Shirley Bolen Obituary

1937 - 2016 Shirley Ann Bolen was born on May 14, 1937 a coalminer's daughter in the hills of Kilarney, West Virginia. She came into this world the third oldest of six brothers eight sisters to her parents Roy and Eva Tucker. Annie as she was called by most family and friends was a light in the lives of so many. Her positive attitude and beautiful smile is what led her to meet and marry Ronald C. Bolen on January 12, 1957. As her husband sailed the open seas as a Chief in the Navy, Shirley was the true definition of a wonderful homemaker and exceptional mom to her four children Cindy Sue married to Tim Sedtal, Eva Diann married to Brian Tapper, Timothy Ronald and Patricia Darlene. Shirley was preceded in death by two of her children Pat and Tim but she never lost hope. Through the long years of her life she always managed to find joy through her struggles and her ever-changing health conditions. Shirley taught everyone she met that it was always mind over matter and that the pain would not slow her down. She was a wonderful grandmother to five grandchildren. Granddaughters: Mandy Barber and Holly Sedtal and grandsons: Clinton Atwood and his wife Emily, Ronnie Bolen and Troy Jones. Shirley also had the joy of having four great grandchildren in her life, Alyssa, Cole, Madison and Hanna Atwood. She was and forever will be an inspiration to all of us. She taught so many lessons in her life with little words because of the way she cared for her family and friends. Shirley's life was a truly fascinating journey of how the power within will lift you above the struggles of this world and take you to a higher place for eternity. A visitation will be held on Monday, May 16th, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the Chapel at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont. A Chapel service will be held on Tuesday, May 17th, 2016, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home for 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery in Vidor.
