David H. VanVertloo, 66, of Edwardsville died July 11, 2016. Visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, Maryville due to storm damage. Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Edwardsville. Burial in St. Boniface Cemetery, Edwardsville. Weber and Rodney Funeral Home, Edwardsville.

David and I were neighbors most of our childhood. I read that he was a great baseball fan. We walked to school together from Gremer to Columbus, stepping on the crack then the middle of the square. Haha! Never late to school! All the way David would quiz me on baseball. Batting averages, Jersey numbers, home run Kings etc etc. I didn´t know any of the answers but I learned a lot!

I'm so sorry. Thinking of you, Jane, and your children and Dave's sister, JoAnne. We had so much fun playing wiffle ball, and croquet, kick the can, badminton with a bunch of great neighborhood kids. I would have wished him many more happy years.

So sorry to hear of David's death. Know him for many years. He tried to teach me guitar which was very challenging for him. He was a very sweet person. My deepest sympathy to Jane and his family.
