Jimmie Despain
Jimmie F. Despain, 79, of Marissa, Ill., born Oct. 7, 1929, in Marissa, Ill.; died Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville, Ill.
Mr. Despain was a retired plumber of 50 years with Belleville Local 101. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a past member of the Marissa Fire Department and a member of the Marissa Presbyterian Church. For the past two years he was a resident of the Freeburg Care Center, Freeburg, Ill.
In his younger days Jim thoroughly enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending summers camping with family and friends.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his mother, Edith, nee Fulton, Despain; his step-mother, Marge Despain; his father Arthur Despain; a brother, William Despain; and his son, Gary Lynn Despain.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Ruth J., nee Perry, Despain; two sons, Jimmie S. Despain of Marissa, Ill., and Daniel J. Despain of Phoenix, Ariz.; a granddaughter, Shauna L. Despain; a step-grandson, Christopher R. Landi; and a host of family and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Freeburg Care Center, Freeburg, Ill., or to his family.

Visitation: Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in Marissa, Ill., on with the Rev. James Ryan officiating. Interment in Marissa Township Cemetery, Marissa, Ill.
