Phyllis Kuthe Obituary

Phyllis V. Kuthe

September 27, 1946 - April 27, 2024

Belleville, Illinois - Phyllis Victoria "Vicky" Kuthe (nee Canty), 77, of Belleville, IL, born on September 27, 1946, in East St. Louis, IL, peacefully passed away with her family at her side Saturday, April 27, 2024, at St. Paul's Home in Belleville, IL.

Vicky was a tremendous sister, mother, 'Grammy,' aunt, friend, cousin, colleague, and so much more to those she loved. She was loyal yet fierce and always made fast friends with great folks along the way. She naturally brought out the best in people with her bright energy and spirit, paired with kindness and generosity. Family and togetherness always guided her path.

She grew up playing outside with cousins, running and jumping in piles of dirt, riding bikes along the country roads of Illinois, and playing softball. At Jewish School of Nursing, Incarnate Word Hospital, and Missouri Baptist Medical Center, she made lifelong friends with colleagues as a surgical nurse and clinical manager. She always loved driving her bright red convertible, antiquing with her sister and friends, visiting neighbors, going to movies, and throwing a good party.

Vicky was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Loretta Canty (nee Doerle).

Vicky is survived by her two children, Erika Fitzgibbon of Webster Groves, MO, Paul (Katherine Elizabeth) Kuthe of Washougal, WA; one stepson, Jeffrey Paul (Lisa) Hawkins of St. Louis, MO; two siblings, Sheila (A. Jay) Bonn of Belleville, IL, Bruce (Brigid Riebold) Canty of Fairview Heights, IL; and four grandchildren, Addison Jane Fitzgibbon, Ava Victoria Fitzgibbon, Canyon Ross Kuthe, and Cedar Francis Kuthe.
