Robert Crego

Robert Owen Crego, 62, of Belleville, Ill., passed away on Monday, May 25, 2015.

Rob was a lawyer, most recently practicing in the Belleville, Ill., area. He was also a gifted musician and enjoyed playing for family and friends as well as performing professionally.

Rob was a life-long Cub fan which gave him much enjoyment and angst. He had a delightful, dry sense of humor and will be missed by all who loved him.

Rob was raised in Streator, Ill., where he attended St. Anthony's Grade School and Streator High School. He graduated from Southern Illinois University and John Marshall Law School.

He was born August 15, 1952, in Pontiac, Ill., son of the late Edwin T. and Louise, nee Svetz, Crego.

He is survived by his four brothers, Edwin (Sheila) Crego of Sarasota, Fla., Thomas (Kathy) Crego of Channahon, Ill., John (Cindy) Crego of Lebanon, Tenn., and Paul (Mary) Crego of Bloomington, Ill.

He is also survived by five nieces and two nephews and their families, with whom he enjoyed a special relationship.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Rob's memory to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville, Ill., or to Freeburg Care Center in Freeburg, Ill.

Visitation: Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2015, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill.

Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2015, at the funeral home. The burial and graveside services coordinated by Solon Telford Funeral Home will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015, at St. Mary's Cemetery in Streator, Ill. In the event of inclement weather, the memorial service will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, where a luncheon will be served following the graveside service.
