I had the pleasure of working very closely with Bob for 6 years at the News Democrat. Moving to Belleville from Michigan, I will always remember how he went out of his way to make me feel comfortable, including having me over to his home for dinner. He was a terrific man and will be greatly missed.

My deepest sympathy to all of Bob's family. I was very blessed to have had the opportunity to work with Bob for 10 years at the News Democrat. I will always remember his joy for life, his love for his family and of course all the jokes I can't repeat.

I always thought of Bob as one of the better men I have known in my life. Always upbeat, demanding at times, but fair. I will miss his sense of humor most, he always had a joke. I'm very sorry for your loss, and I will keep you in my prayers.

My sorrow is shared with family and friends today. Bob will be greatly missed. However, we all can be comforted knowing that his fight was a valiant one and his place in heaven is secure. Paths of people cross many times in our lives and we are only better by having our paths cross with someone like Bob. My friend, until our paths cross again....

To the Sax Family: It's said "There is a time to laugh and a time to cry." We hope that, during these next few days and weeks, you remember the laughs while you cry the tears , and that you feel the grace flowing from all the people that your husband and father touched. We are praying for you!

Bob was a "one of-a-kind" person. One that when you met him you could never forget him. He was a real person. It was a pleasure working with him.

Sax Family,

So sorry to hear about your loss.

Bob was much loved here at the News-Democrat. When I think about Bob, I remember him popping into the Promotions Dept. almost daily with that giant grin and we'd all brace ourselves for the "joke of the day". He had a wonderful sense of humor, and he will be greatly missed by us all.

I had the privilege to work with Bob Sax for 25 years at the News-Democrat, and with many of his children. When my own son took a job in the advertising department, somebody, joking, said to me, "Who do you think you are? Bob Sax?" It was one of the nicest things anybody's said about me at the paper: Bob was a funny, warm and good friend, a man who treasured his time here and expected everyone to work as hard as he did. We tried. But I think Bob had us bested there, too. I know Bob leaves a wonderful family and terrific memories of a great guy.
