Robert Stauder

Robert C. Stauder, 90, of Swansea, Ill., born March 29, 1926, in Belleville, Ill., passed away Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Ill.

Robert graduated from Cathedral High School in June 1944. The next day he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. After his discharge in July 1946, he joined his father Alonzo's carpentry business.
Robert had worked as a carpenter and builder for more than 50 years. He was joint owner with his brother, Leslie Stauder, of Stauder Carpenter & Building Contractors, Belleville, Ill. He was a 70 year member of Carpenter's Local 433. He was also a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill. Robert enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo L. and Ida A., nee Duerr, Stauder; a sister, Kathryn Stauder; a brother, Leslie Stauder; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Marcella "Sally" nee Becherer, Stauder, whom he married on May 3, 1952, at St. Peter's Cathedral, Belleville, Ill.; three sons, Lon Stauder of Bettendorf, Iowa, Robert Jr. (Linda) Stauder of Mascoutah, Ill., and John (Tracy) Stauder of Mountain Green, Utah; two daughters, Donna (Dale) Hagan of Glen Carbon, Ill., and Mary Taylor of Labadie, Mo.; a son-in-law, Robert Taylor; eight grandchildren, Jason Stauder, Courtney Taylor, Kristin (Alex) Helton, Julie (Stefan) Rechtlich, Andrew Hagan, Nathan Taylor, Eliza-beth and Jack Stauder; a great-granddaughter, Ruby Rechtlich; a brother, Leo (Betty) Stauder of Belleville, Ill.; sisters-in-law; cousins; nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or in the form of Masses. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

The Stauder family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Liberty Village Living Center, Maryville, Ill., Dr. James Wade, Lance Lane, and staff for their loving care and support of Mr. Stauder.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 5 to 8 p.m. Thurs-day, Oct. 27, 2016, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill..

Funeral: A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2016, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill., with Msgr. James Buerster and Msgr. William McGhee concelebrating. Burial with military honors will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
