Belleville, Illinois - Robert Lee Vollmer, age 78, of Belleville, Ill., born October 18, 1943, passed away July 17, 2022.
Bob grew up in O'Fallon, and graduated from OTHS in 1961. He earned his Associate of Science degree from BAC, and continued his education at SIU Edwardsville, earning his BA in Psychology and MA in Clinical Psychology. Drafted to serve in the Army in 1966, Bob worked at various jobs-from training room clerk, mail clerk, executive officer and driver for the company commander. Bob worked with Local 520, International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) since 1961. He was an avid reader and enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and tinkering with his projects. Bob was a loving brother, good neighbor and friend who was always willing to lend a helping hand. The family is grateful to the staff at A Place At Home, Dammert Geriatric Center and ProMedica Hospice for the kindness and care provided to Bob.
He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Gladys, nee Rezba, Vollmer; his brother David Vollmer and sister Charlene Olsen.
Surviving are his sister Marla (Robert) Morgan of Smithton, his "special someone" in his life Bonnie Barr of Belleville; his "adopted" daughters Sharon, Maria, Denise, and Deanna; brother-in-law Rob Olsen; and nieces and nephews Kim, Kevin, Keith, Heather, & Trey.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 am â€" 1:30 pm, Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 1:30 pm, with Rev. Brad Lewis officiating. Graveside Service with military honors will follow at O'Fallon City Cemetery, O'Fallon, Illinois.
