Ruth Gielow

Ruth E. Gielow, 93, of Red Bud, Ill., born July 11, 1918, in Cutler, Ill., passed away at 2:15 am, Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at Red Bud Regional Hospital, Red Bud, Ill.

Mrs. Gielow was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Red Bud, Ill., the Evening Guild at Church, Home Extension and St. Clement's Hospital Auxiliary.

Ruth was a wonderful seamstress and loved to quilt. She enjoyed playing cards, going to dances, and going camping with her husband.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Gielow, whom she married on Aug. 24, 1941, in Baldwin, Ill., and who died on April 8, 1990; parents, George and Alvina, nee Zimmer, Lakeman; two sisters, Paula Piel and Delia Bergman.

Surviving are her sons, Ronald Gielow of Dallas, Texas and Larry (Diane) Gielow of Red Bud, Ill.; sister, Georgia Kellerman of DuQuoin, Ill.; four grandchildren, Amanda Gielow, Marcus Gielow, Erin (Derek) Pechacek and Amy Gielow; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation: Friends may call farom 4 to8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home in Red Bud, Ill., and from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Red Bud, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Red Bud, Ill., with the Rev. Russell Koen officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Red Bud, Ill.
