Shirley Beanland

Shirley Ruth Beanland, 80, formerly of Collinsville, Ill., born November 7, 1935, died Monday, Dec. 28, 2015, in Glen Carbon, Ill.

Shirley was a baker, school bus driver, a Great Mother and Grandmother. She believed in and supported the National Audobon Society and the Defense of Wildlife and was a member of United Methodist Church of Collinsville, Ill.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruth Hilder Elizabeth, nee Johnson, Umstattd Jr.; her husband, Howard D. Beanland, whom she married June 6, 1954; one son-in-law, Steve Niemaczek; and one brother William "Bill" Umstattd.

She is survived by her children, Roger W. (Linda) Beanland, Cheryl A. (late husband, Steve) Niemaczek, Ralph E. (Linda) Beanland, Carol D. (Scott) Smith, Dr. Rex H. (Dr. Sarah Schaffner) Beanland, and Ron D. (Christine) Beanland; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is further survived by a brother, Richard (Chrys) Umstattd; and sister-in-law, Marjorie (late husband, Bill) Umstattd; and her feline companion, Sara.
