Shirley Dutko

Shirley Lee Dutko, nee Thomas, 87, of Granite City, Ill., born Nov. 27, 1924, in Glen Carbon, Ill., died Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, in Edwardsville, Ill.

Mrs. Dutko was a member of Nativity of the Virgin Mary Eastern Orthodox Church and Ladies Sodality in Madison, Ill., past owner of Kelly's Lounge, and Arlington Utility Company, past co owner and developer of Arlington Golf Course, Arlington subdivision, Madison Lumber Yard, and Croation Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Jr., and Mary, nee Sardello, Thomas; spouse, Kelly Nicholas Dutko, whom she married Aug. 24, 1951, in Arkansas; brother, John "Dusty" Thomas; and sisters, Catherine Marie Thomas, Catherine Thomas, and Peggy Mann.

Surviving are her daughters, Barbara (Jerry) Lilley of Granite City, Ill., and Carla Carrabino of St. Louis, Mo.; sisters, Mary Jane (Robert) Wheling, and Beverly (Larry) Wheeler, all of Edwardsville, Ill.; grandchildren, Lisa (Brian) Mulhall, the late Salvatore "Torre" Carrabino, Christopher (Lezlie), and Kevin Lilley; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Carlie Mulhall, Katie, Thad, and Nicholas Lilley; and great-great-grandchild, Carter Lilley.

Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, Ill.

A Vigil for the departed will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Funeral: A Liturgy for the departed will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at Nativity of the Virgin Mary Eastern Orthodox Church, 5th and Ewing Streets, Madison, Ill., with the Rev. Nicholas Finley officiating. Burial will be in Nativity of the Virgin Mary Eastern Orthodox Cemetery in Glen Carbon, Ill.
