Danny Woods Obituary

Danny 'Dan' Woods passed away at age 63 on January 1, 2008, from an avalanche accident on Excelsior Pass. He was born July 21, 1944, in Bellingham, Washington. He graduated from Mt. Baker High School in 1962, and he married Pamela K. Woods in 1963. Dan learned commercial fishing from his dad 'Woody.' He fished from 1961 - 1992, was an iron worker and welder, and began Dan's Tractor Service in 2000. He was an avid outdoorsman; his favorite activities were fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, camping, 4-wheeling, metal detecting, and gold panning. He was preceded in death by his father Thelbert 'Woody,' sisters Nancy and Helen Louise, and sister-in-law Helen. Dan is survived by his mother Helen; wife Pamela of 44 years; brothers and sister: Thaine, John (Jaci), Donald (Mary), and Sherry (Mike); three sons: Ross, Des (Melinda) and Conrad; and numerous family and friends. Dan was a loving grandfather to Destinee, Danielle, Kendan, Taryn, Josh, Garrett and Jordan. A memorial service will be held at Moles Funeral Home, 2039 Main St. Ferndale on Saturday, January 12, 2008 at 2:00 pm. The family suggests that memorials in Dan's name be made to Mountain Rescue. Pam..I knew you and Danny years ago when Judy and I were best friends in Bellingham. My thoughts are with you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Danny loved snowmobiling with a passion! He snowmobiled with 3 generations of my family. My Dad (Ken Lankhaar), myself and my kids (Nicole and Michael Sherwood). Danny saw me struggle in the beginning and took the time to teach me. He was patient, kind and respectful and that gave me the confidence I needed to succeed. I remember how he loved to explore the unbeaten path. We all trusted him to lead and we would all follow without hesitation. Even though sometimes we ran out of gas or got so lost we couldn't find our way back. But he knew the back woods around here like no one else did. Even though I am unable to ride anymore, I am honored to know that my son, Michael, had the opportunity to ride and learn from Danny, just as I had. My heart goes out to everyone in your family. I just lost my Dad and I know the pain and shock of loosing someone so unexpectedly. My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.

On behalf of each of us here at Farmers equipment company, we send our sincere sympathy to you the Woods family in the loss of such an incredible man. As a customer, he was special to us also. Always appreciated his smile and enjoyed doing business with him. Words are of little value when the loss is so great but please know you are being thought of and praying to the good Lord that He will comfort you as you negotiate this pain.

All of us at Brim Tractor are saddened by the tragic news of Danny's passing. He was a delight to serve as a customer...always a gentleman and one of those people who you loved to see come in the door! We will miss him. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends.

Words cannot express my sadness in your family's loss. I will always remember Danny as the patriach of snowmobiling in Whatcom county. I can still see his little boy grin when we swapped snowmobile stories. My heart goes out to Conrad especially, as we were sledding together at that very time of the accident and telling stories about how his dad had him on the mountain snowmobiling when he was in diapers. Danny will be very much missed by us all in the snowmobile community.
May the comfort of God guide each of you through this difficult time.
