David Simonson Obituary
October 16, 1930 - October 1, 2025
Bellingham, Washington - David Simonson, passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on October 1, 2025. He was born to Charles Lincoln and Hazel (Hawk) Simonson on October 16, 1930, in Bellingham, WA.
David graduated from Meridian High School. He served in the United States Air Force and received his BA from Western Washington University and MA from the University of Washington. David was a Blaine School District teacher for 31 years - retiring in 1987. He was an active member of Whatcom County School Retirees Association.
In 1968, he took the WSU Master Gardener training and for many years was actively involved with the Master Gardener Demonstration Garden at Hovander Homestead Park.
He is survived by his sister: Phyllis (Ken) Weber; cousin: Marilyn (Gerry) Peterson; nephews: Roger (Vicki) Hawley and Curtis (Joy) Hawley; nieces: Martha (Steve) Wendover, Jan Witter, Nancy (Chris Lieb) Witter, Lori (Paul) Murphy, and Sara (Wade) Spreckelmeyer.
At David's request there will be no formal service. There will be a gathering to celebrate his 95th birthday on Thursday, October 16th, @ 12:00 at Hovander Homestead Park. All of his friends and acquaintances are welcome.
David asked that to remember him, you perform deeds of kindness to others.
The family would like to thank Whatcom Hospice for their wonderful support and care.
