You are missed Matt . You were a huge part of my childhood and teenage memories growing up. I hope your up there hanging out with Uncle Monte and Marc sitting by a campfire just like on Orcas all of those summers.

Still think of you old friend. My oldest is headed to WWU in fall, haven't been back to Bellingham much since back in our heyday so it's brought back a ton of memories. My kid is the exact opposite of me so it's hard to explain some of the adventures I had with you but I love pointing out places where we hung out and caused havoc.

Oh look, its me again! I suppose this whole page is a bit morose; which I suppose is not what you would want for everybody who loves you, so I can just say happy things. Im 12, I have a best friend, a few actually. Im going to a concert soon, I am playing soccer. I like music, and archaeology, I want to live in London when I get older, Mom and Josie are doing okay.. Im taller now-- althought not by much, I dont quite fit in at school nut i have alot of friends outside of school so thats okay. Im just "unique". I would be lying if I said I didnt envy the kids being picked up by their dads at school, or their moms doing mother things. I cannot fathom all the horrible dad jokes I would be in for. My favorite class in school is English Language Arts, our teacher is strict but its a good thing. We learn really interesting things and he asks interesting questions like "What makes an ideal society." Or "What is life" they really make you think. You really would have liked it. I can only wonder how you would answer the question "what is life". Reading through the entries from me in the past I am fairly dissapointed in my pessimistic attitude, so heres your happy obituary update. I love you Dad. Interesting to call somebody Dad, I haven't done that in a really long time. Your optimistic daughter, Lydia.

Matt, It was an honor to have known you. We met through a mutual friend and even though you did not know me well, you treated me as if we had been childhood friends. I will be thinking of you whenever I head up to Mt. Baker. Take it easy up there.

Matt was one of the most unique individuals I have had the privilege to know in my life. I'm very sorry to hear he is no longer with us. Life is a bit dimmer and I wish I had been able to tell him what an amazing person I thought he was.

Today I miss you... they say that grief is like the ocean... it comes in waves... this past few days has been a tidal wave or a tsunami... which you of course would have reveled in.... I look at our daughter and see you... your smile ...your eyes... and every day her sense of humor becomes more and more like you. I love you still... and I know somewhere out there you are loving us too. Thank you for being my family.

Matt was an amazing person, who always impressed. His deep thought and incredible mind will always be remembered by me. He was someone who just took your breath away with his vast knowledge. To me he was a mix of MacGiver, Rambo, some sort of Mob boss, and the most genuine person I have ever met. RIP Matt and god bless your entire family.

sad to hear the news of matts passing. I met matt about 15 years ago from a childhood friend of his. we only met a few times but they were direct and to the point. not many people out there stand for what they say or speak the truth of who they are ...... that is my memory of matt friedman.

Matt,
I often reflect so happily on my memories of you and your family growing up together. The summers on Orcas, riding skateboards through Western or riding bikes all over town. I loved you like a brother. You were to fun to be around and I will miss you so much. Funny I was just thinking about a little reunion for all of us. This was not the reunion I had in mind. No answers just questions. I know your up in heaven having an epic dirt clot fight with Marc right now. remember "No Rocks"... My life is full of fun memories of you Matt and it always will be. I Love you "BROTHER" I will see you again.
Love
