Richard L. Frost

Richard Leland Frost passed peacefully in his sleep at his home on May 12, 2011. He was born January 3, 1936 in Bellingham WA. to Dennis & Marion Frost. He was a member of the "Class of 54" at Nooksack Valley High School. Rich married Shirley M. Boyd on January 21, 1956 and they made their home in Sumas, WA. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1954 to 1961 & worked for Columbia Cement from 1954 to 1986 as a heavy equipment operator at their Sumas quarry. He then worked for Romberg Construction and then the City of Sumas until his death. He was a member of the Sumas American Legion Post 212. Richard was a kind, generous and loving man, who gave to anyone in need! He was devoted to the Sumas community. Rich spent countless hours at the Sumas Rodeo Grounds and at all community events. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping and his horses. He had a love for Bluegrass music. Richard was preceded in death by his wife Shirley and his brother Carl. He is survived by sons: Rick (Bobbi) of Lynden, Robert (Patty) of Lynden & Ron (Jessie) of Lake McMurray, sisters: Neila Stewart & Linda Parks, 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and his companion Carol Kortlever. Everyone is invited to graveside services at 2:00pm, on May 21, 2011 at the Sumas Cemetery with Carl (Spud) Bronkema officiating!
