Robert McCoy Obituary

Robert Louis McCoy passed away peacefully on August 27, 2007 at the age of 74 after a battle with cancer. He was born March 16, 1933 in Beaumont, Texas.
From 1950-1954 Bob was in the U.S. Navy on the USS Helena. He navigated off the coast of Korea with President Eisenhower on board.
He worked for Arco for over 30 years, spending several years at the Carson Refinery in southern California and the remaining years at Cherry Point Refinery in Blaine, Washington, which he retired from in 1985. After retiring, Bob pioneered and established the Parkway Chateau in Fairhaven.
Bob was a member of the BPO Elks Club of Washington from 1975-1977. He was also president of the Kiwanis Club in Ferndale in the early 1970's and was instrumental in starting Kiwanis Clubs in Sumas and Nooksack. Bob was also an active member of Calvary Temple Church for 15 years before he left the Pacific Northwest.
After leaving the area, Bob was the manager of South Hill Apartments in Sunnyside, Washington. In August of 2002, Bob retired from his management position and moved to Kelowna, BC with his wife, Julie. Bob spent the last few years of his life living and golfing in Kelowna, BC, Palm Springs, CA and Mesa, Arizona. Bob was an avid bowler and golfer. He enjoyed baseball as well, especially the Mariners.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nina and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. McCoy. Bob was very close to his family and will be remembered as a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Julie, of Kelowna, BC and his daughters, Nondice Mattson of Grand Terrace, California; Pam (Bill) Means of BelIingham, Washington; Barbara (Stephen) Rideout of Ferndale, Washington; grandchildren Jennifer (Josh) Parthemore, Laura (Erik) Santana, Jeffrey (Schivon) Mattson, Joshua Rideout, Matthew (Wednesday) Means, Autumn Means, Amy (Joel) Olson, Charity (PJ) Wang, Billy (Shannon) Means, Caleb (Melissa) Rideout, Joey Rideout, as well as 14 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Friday, August 31, at 2:00 pm, at Greenacres, 5700 Northwest Dr., Ferndale, WA.
The family would like to thank the staff of Alderwood Park Convalescent Center and all of the Hospice nurses for their exceptional care and compassion during Bob's last days.
