Daniel Wilfred Perreault, 85, a resident of Haviland's Privilege in North
Bennington, Vermont, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington surrounded by his loving family.
Born on August 29, 1940, in
Sanford, Maine, Dan was the son of the late Philippe and Mabel (Lasante) Perreault. As a young child, his family moved to Biddeford, Maine, where he was raised. He graduated from St. Louis High School with the Class of 1959.
Following high school, he attended Saint Francis Xavier College in Nova Scotia, Canada, where he played football for 2 years. His college education was cut short following the passing of his father, at which time he returned to Biddeford to assume control of the family restaurant. Dan later went on to own "The Villa" restaurant also located in Biddeford. Dan continued his education at Saint Francis College in Biddeford, earning his bachelor's degree. Later in life he went on to receive his MBA from Suffolk University in Boston.
After graduating with his BS degree, Dan transitioned from the restaurant business to the electronics business with Corning Components. He was recruited to relocate to Bennington to work as a salesman for Tansitor Electronics, where he eventually rose to Vice President of Sales and Marketing. On December 28, 1979, Dan married the former Judy Lee Jackson of Leesburg, Florida. In 1990, Dan and Judy moved to Florida, where he continued his career in electronics sales. In January of 1993, they purchased Mathews Associates, Inc., a battery assembly and charging components plant for military applications. Dan served as Chief Executive Officer until his passing.
Though Florida became home for many years,
Dan and Judy increasingly spent time back in
Vermont, which they always considered "home". Together they built a life centered on family, faith, and business, sharing over 46 years of marriage.
Dan was a life member of the Bennington Elks Lodge, a member of the St. Louis Alumni Association, and an active communicant of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington.
Dan loved cooking, entertaining, traveling, and
spending time with his family. At one time, he and Judy lived in Paris while building their company, and he maintained a deep appreciation for French culture and the French language, which he spoke fluently his entire life. His mother was one of 22 children, and Dan treasured the large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins that shaped his early life.
Many words could be used to describe Dan. The French phrase "joie de vivre," the Joy of Life, best represents Dan. He was a joyful spirit who deeply loved his family and was loved by many in return. His generosity of his time, talent, and treasures was known by all who knew him. He never backed away from a challenge, was confident in everything he did, and was not afraid of taking a risk or of hard work.
Dan is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Perreault; his son, Philip Perreault (Dale), Daniel Perreault of Austin, Texas, Sydney Perreault of Miami, Florida, and Benjamin Perreault of Boston, Massachusetts; his sister, Patricia Oliver; and many extended family members, friends, coworkers, and the many Mathews Associates employees he considered part of his extended family.
A Funeral Mass for Dan will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington, on Friday February 27, 2026 at 10am, followed by a graveside committal service. Service at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
