David Greene Obituary

David Greene 1963 - 2011 BENNINGTON David A. Greene, 47, a resident of San Francisco, Calif., formerly of Bennington, died Nov. 13, 2010, in San Francisco, following a long illness. He was born in Bennington on June 27, 1963, and was the son of Marie Marcoux of Maine and the late John E. Greene. David received his education in Bennington and Bangor, Maine. He had worked at several restaurants as a cook. He enjoyed the Grateful Dead, and spent several years following them on tour. He is survived by his mother, Marie Marcoux; a sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Garry Butler of Wallingford, brother, Richard Greene and fiance, Sherry Milligan, of Maine, a brother, William of St. Louis, Mo., his sister Tammy Greene of Cohoes, N.Y., and stepmother, Sharon Greene of Bennington. He leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins. David leaves his close friend, Lamont Young of San Francisco. FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside services will be Saturday, July 9 at 11 a.m. at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Shaftsbury. Memorial contributions may be made to Bayanihan House through the MAHAR AND SON FUSNERAL HOME, 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.

David and I met in San Francisco almost 20 years ago and I have considered him a friend, even though it has been several years since we last spoke. I know that he is now in a more peaceful place and look forward to reuniting with him some day.
