David Smith Obituary

HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- David L. Smith, 76, formerly of Wood Park Lane died on Thursday at the Vermont Veterans Home where he has been a resident since March.

Born in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., on May 27, 1929, he was the son of the late Grant and Viola Layton Smith. Educated in Hoosick Falls schools, he graduated from Northfield Mount Hermon School in Northfield, Mass., and from St. Lawrence University. Mr. Smith enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in September 1951 serving two tours of duty. He was a helicopter pilot during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged at the rank of captain in September 1957. He was the owner/operator of D.L. Smith Associates, computer consultants.

Survivors include his children, Jeffrey G. Smith of Harleysville, Pa., Loraine E. Smith of Lansdale, Pa., Russell L. Smith of 0swego, Ill., a sister Joan Smith Stempek of Hoosick Falls and four granddaughters, Jenna E. Smith, Melissa M. Smith, Lindsey E. Smith and Karleyanna L. Smith.

Funeral services will be private from the Robson-Reinfurt Funeral Home, 72 Main St., Hoosick Falls with internment to follow in the family plot located in the Maple Grove Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hoosick Falls Senior Center in care of the funeral home.
