Edwin "Ned" Elmore

PLANTATION, Fla. -- Edwin “Ned” W. Elmore, of Plantation, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2006, just four days before his 71st birthday, following a long illness.

He was born in Oneonta, N.Y., on Oct. 13, 1935, son of the late Dorothy and Earl P. Elmore. He was also a longtime resident of Arlington, Vt., before moving to Florida in 1983.

Mr. Elmore graduated from Hotchkiss Preparatory School and Hartwick College. He was beverage manager at Lauderdale Yacht Club in Fort Lauderdale for 18 years until his retirement. He leaves behind his wife, Lynne; daughter, Elizabeth (Stephen) Ettinghausen and their sons, Zachary and Maxfield, of Rochester, N.Y.; daughter, Elaine (Robert) Monico and their daughter, Kathryn, of Newton, Mass.; son, Edwin “Ned” Elmore III, of West Roxbury, Mass.; sister. Elaine (Wayne) King of Richfield Springs, N.Y., He also leaves behind two stepdaughters, Lisa (Randy) Sovay and their sons, Evan and Austin of Fort Lauderdale, and Robin (William) Penney, and their children, Megan and Ryan of Southold, N.Y., there will be a family gathering and burial in his hometown of Oneonta, N.Y., at a later date.
