Bucky was a good friend while I was teaching and coaching at Mt.Anthony in the late 60's. Laid out a cross country trail with him one time and wielded an axe and saw cutting out a ski jump. He was a fun guy. I knew Frances as well and she was always there with a cup of coffee. Good people.

There is no doubt that, Bucky, was a marvelous athlete as I´d see him on roller skis on Buck Hill or the NB flats. The memories of, Bucky, that will stay with me are when he painted, Fred Bishop´s, old barn for the new owners. This barn is on Myers Rd and is 300´ long 50-60´ wide and at least 3 stories tall. With a smile on his face and a 5" paint brush in each hand he painted that barn, amazing! In last decade or so I´d do little service call work at his house and he would give me cutting boards of different sizes. Four years ago I was on my way out to Montana help my son with his new home who currently serves in the Air Force. Bucky handed me a beautiful cutting board and said give this to Aaron so he will always have something made in and from Shaftsbury. My son, when I presented, Bucky´s , gift to him was overwhelmed with appreciation that someone he hardly knew would send him something so special. That kind act of, Bucky, inspired my son to now make all the plaques and awards for his Red Horse Squadron. I will forever thank you for that, Sir! It was always a pleasure to work with you and for you. Our community will miss you and thank you for all that you have done.

I cannot think of Bucky without picturing his great welcoming smile. He coached our kids in Bill Koch for years and was so proud when we told him that our daughter started her own Bill Koch club in Buffalo NY. He will always hold a special place in our hearts.

I have many memories of Bucky. My brother Dale Wilson was a member of the Nordic Ski Team at MAUHS. At that time, the school didn´t provide transportation for ski events so my father Zip Wilson would load up the car with ski equipment and team members and Bucky taught my Dad how to wax the skis for all kinds of snow conditions. In 1980 when my brother Dale was diagnosed with an acute form of MS, Bucky would come to visit him at my parents home in Bennington. A special visit was when Bucky brought a hat with pins on it from the Winter Olympics held in Lake Placid in Feb.1980. So thoughtful and typical of Bucky´s caring ways. May he ski on...

My husband Ron and I had the great pleasure of getting to know Bucky when visiting my brother Tom for almost the past year. They often had meals together and Bucky grew to become a friend of his. We're always going to have fond memories of Bucky. He was a very special guy and we will miss him.
