Eve Rena Hancox Grogan

KEHEI, Hawaii -- Eve Rena Hancox Grogan of Keha Drive, Kehei, died peacefully at home on March 10, 2005. She leaves her husband, Alonzo M. Grogan IV, her children Alonzo Merlin Grogan and Alice Madeleine Grogan. Her parents are Charles Hancox of Averill Park, N.Y. and Rena and Charles Mayberry of Shrewsbury, Mass. Her sister is Evan Hancox Rozicki of Watervliet, N.Y. and her brother is Benjamin Hancox of Hueytown, Ala. She was the daughter-in-law of Madeleine and the late Skip Grogan of North Hoosick, N.Y.

Eve was born in Troy, N.Y. on March 8, 1962. She attended Averill Park elementary school and graduated with honors, a Regents scholarship and the Spanish prize from Waterford-Halfmoon High.

The Grogans moved from Bennington, Vt., to Maui nearly 20 years ago. She taught at Kid’s Inc., was employed at Pioneer Federal Savings Bank, and wrote curriculum for Home School Learning/Mentura. She was integral to her family’s landscaping business, and helped organize the Maui Writer’s Foundation annual conferences.

Eve was deeply involved in her children’s lives and activities, including basketball, soccer and baseball, hula and Girl Scouts. She was a skilled amateur genealogist, Web publishing a genealogy of the Hancox family in England and Troy. She also created a Web site for Waterford-Halfmoon High School alumni.

Friends are invited to join the family in remembering Eve at a memorial service to be held on Saturday, March 19, 2005, at Kalama Park, South Kihei Road, Kihei at 6 p.m.
