I couldn't believe it when I saw about Chip. We were friends from way back in the 70's when we worked at Bennington College and had great adventures together. He was a great friend that would do anything to help you. Whenever I would see him from time to time as the years went by, he was just the same, always my friend, a great and caring guy, and full of life. I wonder if he is with Aunt Mildred and still driving her crazy? I will miss him greatly, knowing I will not see him again to catch up with what is going on with each other.

My First Christmas in Heaven
I see the countless trees around the world below
with tiny lights, like Heaven's stars, reflecting on the snow.
The sight is so spectacular, please wipe away the tear
for I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear
but the sounds of music can't compare to the Christmas choir up here.
I have no words to tell you, the joy their voices bring,
for it is beyond description, to hear the angels sing.
I know how much you miss me,
I see the pain inside your heart,
But I am not so far away,
we really aren't apart.
So be happy for me, dear ones,
You know I hold you dear.
And be glad I'm spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
I sent you each a special gift,
from my heavenly home above.
I sent you each a memory of my undying love.
After all, love is a gift more precious than gold.
It was always most important in the stories Jesus told.
Please love and keep each other,
as my Father said to do.
For I can't count the blessing or love He has for each of you.
So have a Merry Christmas
And wipe away that tear.
Remember, I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.
(This was given to me by my pastor because I lost my dad this year, I thought you would like read it too.)

It came as a shock to all of us, Chip leaving this earth like he did.
But we rest full knowing that he sits with other family members filling their hearts with laughter.
Chip never lacked for words or one liners. Going on motorcycle trips with him was a guarentee for a sore face from laughing the entire time. BUT... Chip would be so proud of the fact that we have become a much closer family just over the last week, just talking about the good times we all have had with him. I look forward to the family reunions that are being prepared.
It was great working with you Tracy for those few days and with all his brothers and sisters. Chip sits in a wonderful place now. This is not good-bye, but...till we meet again! We love ya Chip.
God bless his family, especially uncle Leonard.

The is a Testimonial presented by Heather Couch-Stevens at the funeral
In Memory Of Chip Couch
As I think on life with Chip I think wow. Any person that has not had a man like him in their family is so very unfortunate! The very thought of him brings happiness! Forever full of youth and energy. Chip lived his life to the fullest, doing all that he loved. Long after my Dad and a lot of his buddies slowed down with life he continued riding and living his dream.
Its funny having the last name Couch is not very common here. When giving my name almost always people ask. Do you know Chip with a huge smile? Some people only meeting him once, but never forgetting him, his voice, his laugh, his love for his family!
Chip is forever in our hearts. One day we will all meet again. I rest well knowing that he is reunited with rest of our loved ones.
Until that day, Missed and always Loved.

To the family of Chipper:
My husband and I were in Jean's Place a couple of weeks ago and a man sat next to us at the counter. He noticed my husbands hat with the "Harley Davidson" log embedded in the back. After talking a bit, I told him he looked familiar to me. Started to ask "if he knew", and come to find out, we did know each other, worked with each other back in the 70's at the Villager in North Bennington. We laughed remembering people, things and we talked more about riding. He told us that he planned on getting a Harley in the spring and about the bike he had in his cellar, one that my husband tried to buy for the same price Couch paid! He said, I'll get your number and we'll go riding... then said, oh, I'll see you before then.
Just from that conversation over dinner, we could tell that he loved to ride. The stories he told, the smiles on his face, he was very happy.
We were both surprised to read about his death. We are sure he is riding in heaven and our prayers to his entire family. God bless.
