I extend my deepest condolences to Dickies family. To young boys growing up in a small town, Dickies extraordinary athletic prowess coupled with his humor and sweetness set him apart from all others. He was our hero. I remember his dominance playing tail back for Mt. Greylock. I vividly recall his dominance as fullback for UMass in 1969 at the nationally televised Astro Blue Bonnet Bowl. I remember former Willams College football coach, Bob Odell telling me that The strongest and fastest guy on our team is in the equptment room - referring to Dickie. He will be missed.

To the Cummings Family, "Freight Train" was a man among boys when it came to anything physical at the high school. A great athlete, and had a "crazy" side at times that got much attention. His presence and antics will be missed. My sincere condolences.

My heart filled with incredible sadness this morning when I read about Richards passing. My sincere sympathy to the Cummings family for your tremendous loss. I grew up in South Williamstown, worked at the Five-Corners Store when the Cummings operated it and knew the family well. Richard Dickie to us growing up was an awesome individual. I will always remember him skiing at Brodie Mt, MGRHS Foot Ball, U-Mass Football, and some mischievous antics that I won't mention but will always remember with a little laugh and smile for Dickie. You are all in my prayers.
