Ronald Freemyer Obituary

ATHOL, Mass. -- Ronald Edward Freemyer of Daniel Shays Highway, Athol, passed away at home on Friday, June 11, 2004, with his loving wife of 25 years by his side.

He was born in Bennington, Vt. on June 21, 1943 the son of Clarence and Ruth (Barber) Freemyer.

Mr. Freemyer was a veteran of the Vietnam War; he joined the U.S. Army in 1965 and served for 20 years, retiring in Athol. He was employed at the Bedroom Factory in Orange, and then the L.S. Starrett Company in Athol for 15 years.

He leaves his wife of 25 years, Barbara (Scalia) Freemyer; two daughters, Mary-Jo Freemyer of Gardner and Debra (Freemyer) Langlois, his son-in-law Gary Langlois, and grandson, Gary Langlois Jr. of Raymond, N.H.; four sisters, Lynn Hurley and her two sons, Brett and Jason Hurley of Williamstown, Cheryl Freemyer of Dallas, Texas, Kathy Hamelton and her husband Donald and their daughter Courtney of New York, Gillian Wilson and her husband Thomas and their daughter Kalia of New York, a brother, Patrick Young and his wife Joan their daughters, and Tammy and Kristy of South Carolina; a sister-in-law, Alice Teller and her husband, Warren and their daughter Cynthia Cammarata and her husband Frederick of Waltham; along with aunts, cousins and many friends.

Mr. Freemyer was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and the 11th, A.C.R. Association.

A memorial service will be held at a time to be announced in the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery in Winchendon. There are no calling hours.

The family suggests that donations be made in his memory to the Gardner Visiting Nursing Association 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440 or to the Care of Animals Fund, Town of Athol 584 Main St., Athol, MA 01331.

Fiske Funeral Home, 1356 Main St., Athol, MA 01331 is directing arrangements.
