William F. Weaver

RALEIGH, N.C. -- William Frederick Weaver, 81, died peacefully on Friday, Oct. 22, 2004 at Mayview Convalescent Center after an extended illness.

Mr. Weaver was born in South Bend, Ind., Oct. 27, 1922, to William H. and Marjorie W. Weaver. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European and North African theaters. In 1950, he married Jane K. Gardner of Bennington, Vt., and relocated to Oak Park, Ill.

For 40 years, Mr. Weaver worked as an architectural hardware consultant in the metropolitan Chicago area; he was integrally involved in the construction of O’Hare International Airport and also had the privilege of working with renowned architect I.M. Pei. He was a loyal member of the Door and Hardware Institute and served as an instructor for nearly two decades helping others to obtain their architectural hardware certification.

Mr. Weaver is survived by his sons Derrick Scott Weaver of Cleveland, Kurt Douglas Weaver and daughter-in-law Tamara Cox Weaver of Raleigh; granddaughters Carla Marie and Elaine Michelle Weaver of Arizona, Colleen Jennifer and Andrea Leigh Weaver of Ohio, and Alexandria Brooks and Caroline Austin Weaver of Raleigh. Mr. Weaver was preceded in death by his wife Jane on Feb. 17, 2001 and his eldest son William R. Weaver on Jan. 18, 1983.

The family wishes to extend its thanks to Mr. Weaver’s friends at Fall River Court who cared for him for nearly four years and is especially grateful to all those at Mayview Convalescent Center who assured that his last months were filled with dignity and comfort.

A private burial service will be held in Bennington.
