William Woodcock Obituary

William Francis Woodcock, 86, a resident of Jackson, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. He was born in Sandgate, VT on January 13, 1938, the son of Elinor and Frederick Woodcock.

William's life was one marked by hard work, devotion to his family, and a love of simple pleasures. As a young man, he became a skilled woodworker, working for Shushan Bentwood in Shushan, NY, where he honed his craft. Prior to that, he had been employed by the Battenkill Furniture Company and Hale Furniture Company in Arlington, VT. He also worked as a truck driver for Asgrow Seed Company, and spent time at Oak Mitsui in Hoosick Falls, NY. Later in life, he drove for Joe Kent's Trash Removal Service, where his strong work ethic was evident in everything he did.

William was an active member of the American Woodworker's Association, a testament to his dedication to his craft and his passion for woodworking. Outside of work, he found joy in several hobbies, including hunting, fishing, and listening to country music. He also had a love for the thrill of gambling, particularly at the Racino in Saratoga and he enjoyed the excitement of the horse races in the summer.

William was twice widowed, first by his wife, Shirley Rowland, in 1989, and more recently by his second wife, Karen L. Hall, in 2024. He leaves behind three loving daughters: Teresa Saunders of Ellenwood, GA, Patricia Andersen of Norco, CA, and Rebecca (Alan) Benoit of Greenwich, NY. William also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Frank (Brittaney) Waite, Elizabeth Wills, Jesse Wills, and Maureen (Travis) Fernandez, along with several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who brought joy to his life.

He is survived by his brother, Robert (Christine) Woodcock of Sandgate, VT. William was predeceased by his parents, his two wives, and several beloved family members, including his infant daughter, Mary Frances Woodcock; his daughter, Dorothy Waite; his granddaughter, Shirley Waite; his granddaughter, Jessica Saunders; and his grandson, Wesley Wills.

A graveside service to honor William's life will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge, NY. Reverend Carol Finke will officiate the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in William's name to the SPCA of Upstate New York, 588 Queensbury Ave, Queensbury, NY 12804, to support the care of animals that William had always held dear.
