Amelia Adams Obituary

Amelia (Gamsky) Adams, 45, of 585 Pine Cobble Road, Williamstown, died Wednesday evening, June 22, 2005, at the North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in Wauwatosa, Wisc., on Jan. 25, 1960, she was the daughter of Edward “Ned” and Joan (Koch) Gamsky. She attended schools in Wauwatosa and graduated from Wauwatosa West High School with the class of 1978. She then graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in communications arts in 1982 from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
She was employed as an account executive at WTEN Channel 10 in Albany, N.Y. She then began working as an actor. Over her career, she performed in over 50 plays from San Francisco to Cooperstown, N.Y, receiving three best actor awards. Area theaters in which she performed included the Oldcastle Theater Company, New York State Theatre Institute, Leatherstocking Theatre, Theater Barn, Albany Civic Theatre and Columbia Civic Theatre.
She also performed in over 170 on-camera productions including television commercials, industrial videos, hosting local network specials including the “Real Estate Showcase” on TimeWarner Television, independent films and major motion picture features.
She taught acting at several local schools and served as an adjunct professor at Williams College in Williamstown, teaching an acting course in the Winter Study Program.
She was a member of Actor’s Equity Association, American Federation of Radio and Television Actors, and Screen Actors Guild.
Besides her parents of Fort Myers, Fla., she leaves her husband, Colin Adams of Williamstown; a daughter, Alexa Adams of Williamstown; a son, Colton Adams of Williamstown; a sister, Teresa Schlicting of Bloomington, Minn.; a brother, Thomas Gamsky of Moraga, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Amelia Adams will be held Sunday, June 26, 2 p.m., at the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Williams College. A reception at the Williams College ‘62 Center for Theater and Dance will follow. Private burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Fund, an organization that fights pediatric cancer; the Oldcastle Theater Co. or for the Theater Barn through the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 W. Main St., North Adams, which is in charge of arrangements.
