Dorothy Barnum Obituary

Dorothy "Dottie" Barnum, 70, of Pittsfield, former long-time resident of Lee, passed away at her home with her caregiver at her side.

Dottie was born in Webster, MA on December 17, 1953, raised in the Belchertown area and eventually met Lewis "Butch" Barnum and moved to Lee where she became a local fixture.

Dottie was well loved and loved life to its fullest. She enjoyed her trips to Florida with her best friend and caregiver, Regina Peltier, with whom she made her home with for the past 7 years. She was a kind, caring and compassionate person. Dottie also loved shopping for a bargain with her friends.

Besides her caregiver and friend, Regina Peltier, she leaves behind her sister-in-law, Helen Moening, her friend, Paul Derby, and her cherished cat, Mitten.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, 11AM at the Elmwood Cemetery in Great Barrington where she will be laid to rest next her husband, "Butch." There are no calling hours.

To Dottie's loved ones, what an absolute joy she was.
So pleasant, hardworking and kind.
We loved you dearly at the Morgan House.
You, so proudly wearing that Red Sox jacket, will never be forgotten.
Thank you for your infectious laugh.
RIP with the Angel's sweet lady.

My deepest sympathies to Regina Peltier, Helen Moening. Paul Derby and Mitten. I knew Dottie for a bit when she lived in Lee and I worked at a consignment shop, also in Lee. Many times she would stop in to visit and she was the sweetest and kindest person you would ever want to meet. It was truly my pleasure to know her. She will be missed by all of those who knew her. The angels have gotten one of the best ever. So sad she has left us.
