Dorothy Thompson Obituary

Dorothy Gezuner Thompson, 85, of Clearwater, Fla., died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, at Menorah Manor, St. Petersburg, Fla.
The daughter of Goodwin and Lillian (Lewis) Gezuner, she was a native of North Adams, Mass.
After attending Bliss Business College in Boston, she worked as the purchasing agent for Clark Biscuit Co. and was the youngest person and the first woman to hold this position nationally.
While single-handedly raising her four daughters, she earned a bachelor of science and master’s degree in education from North Adams State College, now Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
Her career in education spanned 23 years. She taught at Houghton School, Freeman Junior High and was named a master teacher at Mark Hopkins Laboratory School, where she was charged with training student teachers. Later, she joined the faculty at Drury High School, where she taught English and art.
She was recognized for her contributions to the alumni association of North Adams State College, where she served as president for many years.
She leaves four daughters, Goody Rogers of Ellicott City, Md., Deborah Noe of Putney, Vt., and Leslie Freedman of Clearwater, and four grandchildren, Abraham, Lily, Jacob and Jennifer.
A daughter, Bonnie, is deceased.

Dorothy Thompson was a favorite teacher of mine at Mark Hopkins School during 1972 & 1973. I am saddened to hear the news. Some teachers are remembered forever, she is one of them.
