Edward Krzanik Obituary

Edward S. Krzanik, 88, departed this life peacefully on Friday November 1, 2024. Ed was born in Adams, MA on April 1, 1936, son to the late Stanley and Sophie (Wegrzyn) Krzanik. He attended Adams schools, graduating from St. Stanislaus School in 1950 and Adams High School in 1954. Ed enlisted in the Navy on June 7, 1954, and completed basic training at Bainbridge, MD. He graduated as a Radioman Class A in Norfolk, VA. Ed served seven months aboard the U.S.S. Dash on a tour in the Mediterranean and at the U.S. Naval Command Station at Balboa, Fort Amador Panama Canal Zone. He received the National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal before Honorable Discharge on June 17, 1958. After his service, Ed graduated from the Hartford Institute of Accounting. He was employed at U.A.C. and Pratt & Whitney Defense for 47 years in the Accounting and Inventory Control Department. He received multiple awards for his dedicated service. Ed considered many of his friends at Pratt & Whitney as extended family. Together they enjoyed traveling, luncheons and always a good laugh. Later in life he attended Asnuntuck College earning degrees in Accounting, Fine Arts and Computer Programming. Although Ed lived most of his adult life in Enfield, CT., he always enjoyed his trips back home to Adams. Ed was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Church. Ed leaves behind his sisters Barbara Tatro of Adams, Dorothy Krzanik and Jean Krzanik of CT., brothers Robert Krzanik and wife Sharon of Adams, Frank Krzanik and wife Patty of Ludlow, and John Krzanik of Northbridge. He also leaves behind his aunts, Emily Bednarczyk of Pittsfield, and Bunny Wegrzyn of Adams, several cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Ed is predeceased by his parents, brothers Stanley Krzanik Jr., Tony Krzanik and Fred "Bungy" Krzanik, long-time friend Frank Reaulo and his beloved cat Sophie. Ed loved spending time with his family, never forgetting anyone's birthday or sending a holiday wish. He enjoyed catering family gatherings and making films of all the parties. Ed was an avid fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox and never missed a game. He loved to travel, Ogunquit, ME. and Fort Lauderdale, FL. being two of his favorite destinations. Ed will forever be remembered for his humor and the love he had for his family and friends. His perception of life was that "it continues as he looks forward to joining those who predeceased him. May the road rise up to meet you Ed, and may the wind be always at your back, until we meet again. The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Mt. Greylock Extended Care for their professionalism and kindness. Per Ed's wishes there will be no formal services. Donations can be made in his memory to the Berkshire Humane Society, 214 Barker Road, Pittsfield, MA 01201 or to the SSK Preservation Fund, P.O. Box 328, Adams, MA. 01220.
