J. Blades Obituary
Larry was born on August 10, 1947, in Bethesda, MD, a son of the late Cecilia Koehler Blades and Jehu L. (Dusty) Blades.
A graduate of Georgetown University, the Navy's Officer Candidate School and Columbia University's Law School, he had a 25-year career as a litigator and partner in New York law firms. In private practice, he served as General Counsel at Skip Barber Racing School, and was an avid driver and enthusiast in the sport of auto racing. He was an active member and volunteer in the Salisbury Congregational Church in Salisbury, CT.
A loving husband and father, Larry is survived by his devoted wife Georgia Blades of Ashley Falls, MA; children Matt Blades of Brooklyn, NY (Heather Norton), Elizabeth Blades Diller of Madison, NJ (David), and Carla Blades of Mill River, MA (Ian Dick); grandchildren Tessa and Nicholas Diller of Madison, NJ, and Gavin and Sebastian Blades of Ashley Falls, MA; sisters the late Nona Blades of NYC, NY, Nancy Blades of Plainfield, NJ, and Fenix Grange (Malachy) of Honolulu, HI; and brother Frederick (Rick) Blades (Mary) of Boulder, CO.
A Celebration of Larry's Life will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at 12 noon at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, CT.
