1959 - 2015 PITTSFIELD Karen Lake Briggs, 56, of 21 Lakewood Drive, died Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at her home. Born in Pittsfield on March 8, 1959, the daughter of Patricia M. Kelley Lake of Pittsfield and the late Robert A. Lake, she was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1977 graduate of Taconic High School. Mrs. Briggs was employed by the Adams-Cheshire Regional School District where she was a paraprofessional in Special Education. She retired in 2000 due to ill health. She had also, at one time, worked at WalMart. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed being with animals and gardening. Besides her mother of Pittsfield, Mrs. Briggs is survived by two sons, Edward M. Ferris and his wife, Melissa, of Pittsfield and Joseph R. Ferris of Pittsfield; two daughters, Jessica L Tart and her husband, Jesse, of Pittsfield, and Rebecca L. Ferris; two brothers, her twin, Kenneth E. Lake of Pittsfield, and William J. Lake and his wife, Patricia Engel, of Chatham, N.Y.; her four grandchildren, Devon Smith, Matthew Tart, Edward P. Ferris, and Lily Ferris; and her dog, Dixie. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Karen Lake Briggs will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Briggs may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
