Matthew Goodson Obituary
1991 - 2012 NORTH ADAMS Matthew A. Goodson, 21, of 187 Liberty Street, North Adams, died Friday, July 27, 2012, from injuries sustained while riding the motorcycle he loved in Petersburg, New York.
Born in North Adams on March 17, 1991, son of Michael A. Goodson and Karen M. Huttle Goodson, he was educated in North Adams schools. He attended Western New England College and was enrolled to attend MCLA this Fall. At the time of his death, Matthew was a Certified Pharmacy Technician at Wal-Mart in North Adams, where he had worked the past few years.
He was a member of the COTY Youth Center in North Adams where he enjoyed spending time with his mentor, Sr. Eunice. Matthew loved life. He was adventurous and was looking forward to his upcoming sky-diving jump. He enjoyed fishing and camping, as well as his cars and motorcycle.
Matthew leaves his father, Michael A. Goodson, and his companion, Barbara J. Wilson, of North Adams, and his mother, Karen Huttle Goodson of North Adams. He is also survived by two sisters, Kathleen A. Brazeau and her companion, Dave Alden, of Pittsfield, and Chelsey Ciolkowski and her partner, Mary LeClair, of North Adams; two brothers, Michael A. Goodson and his girlfriend, Sara Young, of Longview, Texas, and Ryan J. Ciolkowski of North Adams; his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Phyllis Huttle of Adams; as well as his goddaughter, Andrea, of whom he was very proud; and many aunts and uncles, and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Romeo and Maggie Goodson, and by his maternal grandmother, Loretta Huttle.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Matthew A. Goodson will be held Thursday, Aug. 2, at 12:00 Noon at the First Baptist Church in North Adams, with the Rev. David A. Anderson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery in North Adams. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., prior to the service at the First Baptist Church in North Adams.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Matthew may be made to the COTY Youth Center in care of the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.

I truely feel for you and your family. I lost a son as well, in a MVA. he would be 21 this September. Why do the good get taken from us. Matt, I send this to you because you ARE still with us. Everyone dies, not everyone lives. You lived. You made me nervous at times at the risks you took but that was who you were. I know that you found the "secret of life" in Colorado at Frontier Ranch. You were transformed forever by that experience and you were always safe in the palm of God's hands. Matt, we went through so much together. You were always right there holding my hand through everything! I know I'm going to be lost without you in my life, but if there is one thing you did for me is you made me stronger. You taught me how to get through the bad and make the best out of it. We have been friends for as long as I remember. I remember being at the YMCA pool and dropping my swimming plug at the bottom of the pool, You swam all the way to the bottom and got it for me and gave me that amazing smile and looked at me and said "that is what best friend's are for" and instead of just giving it to me, you smushed it all in my hair and gave me a big grin and swam away. I wouldn't espect any less from you though (: We had so many good memories from Six Flag trips, Going to the Y together and spending middle school at the Coty center and you "trying" to teach me how to play pool and it ending up with me almost braking your noes, to all the times we would just sit and look at the stars and vent about life you cant forget the crazy midnight walks, and riding around for hours to try to figure out what the "UFO" light is and to find out that it was just an airport light (You were so mad, you wanted to see some "aliems") All the Mt. Greylock trips and scaring each other so bad we both almost peed ourselves, and you turning your car off on the way down because you wanted to know what would happen. You were more then a friend to me and more then my butt head you were like my brother. You protected me with everything you had, especially in the "boy" category(You were good at the interrogation too.) I miss you so much and I can't wait to see you again! I will never forget you and all the special times we shared. I love you Matthew <3

Mike, I am so so sorry that you are all going through this terrible time. I still remember the first time I met Matthew, he was 3 months old and you brought your car into Duteau Collision for some repairs. I can still see him sitting on your lap while you were waiting to talk to someone. He WAS INDEED your best buddy, right down to sticking up for you over Easter Eggs. There aren't enough words to describe how heavy my heart is for you all.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I cannot find the words to express how upset I feel for you at this time.
Losing a friend is tough, losing a family member is tough but losing a child has to be the most difficult thing life can possibly throw at you. Life simply is not fair.
I didn't know Matthew but from knowing you and your family he was good person. This is very tragic.

Matt. You have been my brother and best friend for a long time. You always brought a smile to my face when i was down. Always made me laugh and bring me back down to reality. Remember the first day we met at BK? You had an afro, braces, and you were so patient with me while i learned to make burgers. All the summer nights spent over each others house. All the NA movies we went and watched, getting soaked at great escape, chilin for hours surffing the net for stupid stuff, blowing up coke bottles with mentos, coming to ga and staying in my barracks room, the tigger the tiger stuffy we bought last time i was up there that we all signed. Friendlys, cruising and so so much more. The time i snuck in through your moms house window to wake you up at 6am....so many good times. So many memories. You will always be in my heart, my mind, i keep hearing your laugh echo in my head. I love you so much Matt. You are my brother forever and ever. God bless and rest peacefully my brother.
