WORTHINGTON -- Michael K. Higgins, 62, of 458 Williamsburg Road died June 20 at home.
Born in Queens, N.Y., on Aug. 18, 1941, son of Joseph and Anna Walsh Higgins, he was educated in Manhatten.
Mr. Higgins was a self-employed carpenter and a member of the District Counsel of the New York City United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local 257.
He was an avid reader.
He leaves three daughters, Kathleen Curzon of the state of Florida, Karen Bergeron of Worthington and Jennifer Higgins of Belchertown; three sons, Robert Higgins of Nova Scotia, Chris Higgins of Huntington and Luke Higgins of Belchertown, 11 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. He also leaves his former wife, Gail Higgins of Westfield.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral arrangements for Michael K. Higgins are under the direction of O'BRIEN HILLTOWN FUNERAL HOME in Huntington. There will be no calling hours. A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, July 18, at 10 at 458 Williamsburg Road, Worthington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Meekins Library, P.O. Box 46, Williamsburg, MA 01096. Remembrances, memories and reflections may be sent to the family via [email protected]. He was considered a lay philosopher by those who knew him. His infectious laugh and the spark in his eye conveyed that life's satires were not lost on him. Michael will be deeply missed.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Please accept my sincere expression of sympathy. I was quite surprised to read about Mike's death in today's on-line newspaper. Although many years have passed by since we've seen each other, I do have fond memories of your family from my days in Haydenville. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you. God bless you.
