Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 17, 1980, son of Richard L. and Margaretta Conrad duPont, he was educated in Lenox schools and at Berkshire Community College. He was a communicant of St. Ann's Church in Lenox. An avid reader, he enjoyed going to the Lenox Coffee Shop and the Lenox Bookstore. He also enjoyed golfing, and hiking in Kennedy Park.

He had anticipated returning to California later this year to audition for the upcoming sequel to "Pirates of the Caribbean" as actor Johnny Depp's body double. On stage, he most recently appeared in the 2005 Berkshire Theater Festival production of "Equus." He debuted at the Festival in a 1999 production of "Crucifer of Blood." He was a member of Infamous Genius Theater Company, based in San Jose, Calif., and a cast member of the Copake (N.Y.) Theater Company, appearing in its production of "Lonestar." He was a familiar figure at the Lenox Coffee Shop where he often ensconced himself with a double latté, most recently with a copy of Harry Potter in hand. Dear duPont Family,
I just received the news of your great loss. I am devasted to learn of Richie's passing. I am so glad to have known him even for a brief time. My memories of him are still so fresh and vivid that it will be sometime before the reality of never running in to him again in this life time will sink in. At one of our first meetings the phrase "misfits of accidental science" popped out of his mouth and I said..who is this guy! I came to know him as a seeker, a hard worker. Deeply thoughtful and full of light and fun. I am proud to have known him and his presence will remain with me for he was one of those people who seems to stick in your mind. The last time I saw him, the cast of EQUUS was about to break up, I was walking out the door and he and Brian and Ryan S said hold on, they ran and got guitars and started to play "Give me the beat boys and free my soul...I had remarked weeks before that I would love to learn that song and sing it with them because they sounded so good together. Richie, I hope your soul is free. You were much loved in life and you will be sorely missed by many people. My heart is with your family and friends.

man, i dont really know what to say, i havent really talked to richo in a while. But we have a very special past. I sort of played the big brother part to richo for about a year. Back in 99 we both woked at salernos and we were together every day all day, then after work we would head to my apartment down the road where i lived with dover, and ferris most of the time, and are famous frind jiggity. Some of those times were a blurr but also some of the most special times so far, its where the crew and i really got close, I was able to make the most loyal and caring friends of all time. I still have not been able to find any to top the church steet crew. Richo was always the most layed back quiet person until you got to know him, then the best of him came out. he was always thinking of other people before himself, and i always loved that about him. I learned alot of things from that kid, he really helped me be the person i am today. He is the type of kid when he got rich and famous he would of taken care of everybody he loved before himself, without even thing twice about it. That sums it up. I could proberly write a couple of books on the days of Reno and richo, but that legend will have to live on in mine and his head forever. Richo will be truly missed by me and so many good people. He was loved by so many people. It was very hard for me not to be able to come out and say my last goodbye to him and have closure on this terrible loss, so this is it. Richo i am very lucky and blessed to have been able to have crossed paths with you in this short live we live. Do me a favor my man save me a seat up there and make it be the one right next to you. I love you man. Thanks for the unforgettable times. Peace out brother, see you on the flip side.

Phew...I really have no way to sum up my love for Richo. We all know how that sly grin could always make us smile. Like he was always planning something, his next big scheme or something...I'd always just shake my head and laugh...someday I thought...Richo will be famous...he's that kind of character. Richo was the first person I would look for everytime I came home, and I always found him, sitting at the coffee shop, smoking a cig, enjoying every minute of it. He was always up for a walk up into Kennedy Park, and I spent most of my time with him there, just walking through the woods. Richo enjoyed and noticed the small, discreet, beautiful things in life, like a good mocha, or a breezy day in K.P. Things that a lot of people miss their entire lives. He knew...Richo knew... I am deeply sorry that I cannot be there to share in your grief, but please know that my thoughts are always with you all, and I love all of you dearly.

To Richie's Family:
I am shocked and deeply saddened to hear of the loss of one of our classmates. Not only was Richie one of a kind, but he was honest, thoughtful, and so very talented. I fondly remember our birthdays being one day apart, and conversing with him during study hall. My prayers are with you all and I am wishing that I was home to give my sympathy in person.

My dearest Marge,
How I wish I'd been able to know the young man Richie had become. Our years at Bridgewater failed to prepare us for such a tragic loss. My heart aches for you and your family. Much love from mine.

Dear Marge and family,
Tim called from Alaska to tell me about Richie's tragic death. I have so many great memories of him as a young boy and then a young man. Everytime Tim would visit Lenox, he would always give me news of Richie. I plan on looking back at the tapes from the wonderful Shakespeare plays that I remember him in. My heart is breaking for you. I am sorry I will not be able to get to Lenox to offer my sympathy in person. My thoughts are with you.

Having only seen him on stage, and a few post-show BTF arties, Richie was so willing to start up a conversation or sign a few autographs for friends. A truely genuine guy, and someone who I almost had the pleasure of working with. Deepest sympathy for his family.
