Christopher Fagan Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Dr. Chris Fagan on March 12, 2025. He was born on June 19, 1953 to Dr. Phillip and Elizabeth Fagan. His unwavering faith and dedication to healing touched countless lives.
Dr. Fagan grew up in Anniston Alabama and was the son of a pharmacist and orthopedic surgeon. He pursued his passion for medicine, through earning degrees from University of Notre Dame and the University of South Alabama.
He was a loving father to three children, Kyle, Sarah, and Jenna. He was a passionate fan of the Fighting Irish, enjoyed spending time working outdoors with his animals, and traveling. As a lifelong Catholic and a member of the Knights of Columbus, he was actively involved within the religious community.
Dr. Fagan will be remembered by the lives he touched and saved. He was dedicated to helping his patients and his community for over 45 years. He practiced emergency medicine in multiple states, including Montana, Texas, Oregon, Arizona, Wyoming, New Mexico, and Georgia, just to name a few. He then settled in Big Bear and opened his private practice, which operated for almost 30 years. He served as a doctor for multiple sports teams, served on the Bear Valley Hospital Board, and held a Pay It Forward clinic for uninsured members of the community. He even served as the "Dodger Doc." He was generous to a fault with his time, expertise, and clarity. He made house calls for those who could not make it to the clinic.
With his generous spirit came a strong personality. He didn't pull any punches, always giving you his honest opinion of the situation. He was a true cowboy to the end. The family asks that you share your favorite story about Chris with them at [email protected]. The family is grateful for the memories and stories that have already been shared.
Dr. Fagan is survived by his five siblings, three children, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews- and the many lives he saved.
A memorial service will be held on April 5, 2025 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Big Bear, California, at 12:00 pm with a reception to follow at The Elks Lodge. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Sacred Heart Retreat Camp dedicated to serving children and youth.

I was a previous patient of Dr. Fagan. I would run into him at garage sales and once he came to my mom's garage sale. He was usually with a friend. He was always friendly and kind when I saw him. I will miss seeing him

Being a employee for BVCHD and on the activities community, I remember when we had "Anything Chocolate" raffle. Dr. Fagan attended the raffle and would keep bidding higher than everyone. Not wanting the prize but to raise money for the cause. At the end he would give the prizes to the one he was bidding against.
He became a friend and a respected friend at that.

Great friend and business associate for 15 years. Ornery in a good humored way. Just days before his passing we had agreed to go to a college football game together this fall. I'm so sorry to miss that time with him now. God bless you Doc, and you still owe me for the Ohio State/ Notre Dame game! LOL

It is indeed with a heavy heart that both my husband, Terry Ford (22 yr patient) And myself Creta De Vault-Ford are sorry to hear of this the death of Dr. Fagan. He was kind, boisterous, demanding and went over and above for my husband, Terry Ford, to make sure he received the life saving care he needed.
