Gregory Eyvin Jorgensen, age 68, of Big Rapids, passed away on October 11, 2024, at Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital. He was born on April 19, 1956, in Big Rapids, the son of Eyvin and Ardith (Hall) Jorgensen.
Greg grew up in Big Rapids, graduating from Big Rapids High School in 1975. On June 25, 1977, he married the love of his life, Diana Mishler, and they shared 47 wonderful years of marriage. Greg worked at Big Rapids Products until he lost his sight in 1985, but he never let that slow him down. Known for his love of tinkering, Greg enjoyed working on tractors and woodworking even after losing his vision. Evening golf cart rides, time spent outdoors, and visits to historical sites while traveling with his family were among his favorite pastimes.
A devoted family man, Greg cherished every moment with his loved ones. He was happiest when surrounded by family, always ready for a good chat or time spent together. He was a longtime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
Greg is survived by his loving wife, Diana; his sons, Noah (Amber) Jorgensen and Andrew (Brittany) Jorgensen; and four grandchildren, Isaac, Ayla, Kaylee, and Eli. He is also survived by his brothers, Steve (Rosalyn) Jorgensen and Larry (Nichole) Jorgensen; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Ardith, his stepfather Bernie Johnson, who raised him from a very young age, and his father Eyvin.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 19, 2024, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, with Pastor Tyson Bentz officiating. Greg's family will greet friends beginning at 10 a.m., Saturday at the church. Burial will be at the Whipple Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Greg's honor to St. Peter's Lutheran Church or the Activity Department at Altercare of Big Rapids.
