James McIntyre Obituary

James Allen McIntyre
Big Rapids, Michigan
06/19/1938 - 05/15/2025
James Allen McIntyre, 86, of Big Rapids, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025, at Corewell Health in Grand Rapids.
Born on June 19, 1938, in Rockford, Michigan, James was the son of the late Ferna Gerring and John McIntyre. He graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1957, where he met the love of his life, Janet. They married on September 3, 1960, and shared a devoted partnership of nearly 65 years.
James proudly served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged before returning to Big Rapids, where he built a life grounded in hard work, loyalty, and community. He worked for Michael Oil, and later continued to lend his expertise at Austin ANR Gas Field. James also served as a dedicated volunteer firefighter with the Rogers Heights Fire Department.
Known for his easygoing nature and deep loyalty, James was always the first one called when it was time for a round of golf. He was a regular at Falconhead Golf Course, where he forged lifelong friendships and rarely missed a tee time. His love for animals, especially his cherished fur babies, was well known among those who knew him best. Together, James and Janet taught line and partner dancing. They shared a unique bond evident in their dancing chemistry.
James is survived by his beloved wife, Janet (Michael) McIntyre of Big Rapids; his siblings Stephen (Judy) McIntyre, Gary (Suzanne) McIntyre, and Linda (Rob) Wheeler; and several nieces and nephews who will remember his warmth and wit.
He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him-a quiet hero, a loyal friend, and a man who lived with integrity and heart.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Gary, Linda, and Steve,
Just talked with my sister Judy and she told me about Jim. So sorry to hear he is no longer with us. The one comforting thought is that he is now resting in peace with our savior Jesus Christ.
God Bless you and all of your family.
