"Anything that has reminded you of how precious life is and has taught you to treasure the relations ? is a blessing."
POPLAR ? Denise Kay Red Thunder left this world unexpectedly on July 17, 2004. She was born on Jan. 1, 1972, to Calvin and Sharon (Youpee) Red Thunder. Being born and raised in Poplar, she graduated from Poplar High School in 1990.
She married her high school sweetheart Errol Standing in Wolf Point. They later divorced but remained friends.
Denise was a descendant of the late Red Thunder and Owl Bull, and her family lineage included the Minneconjou, Hunkpapa, Santee and Oglala Sioux bands.
Denise enjoyed chatting on her computer where she met many new friends; her evening car rides with Donelle; visiting for hours with her mother and sister; reading; and most of all, she loved to be with her children.
Those surviving Denise are her son (adopted brother) Jared Wade; her daughters JenEtte Cailen Tione and Shanel Angelique; her mother Sharon; her brothers Sheldon (Ilenda) and Calvin Jr.; her only sister Angeline (Mike); nephews Tommy, Brandon, Sean, Jim, Shane, and Seth; and her niece Maria. Also surviving her are her maternal grandfather Jim Youpee; numerous aunts and uncles, a special cousin/sister Sharon Kidman. Through Indian custom, her adopted bothers and sisters include, Asad Mushtaq, Donelle Buckles, Janene Shigley and Connie Thompson.
Denise, we know it could never be said enough just how much we love and care for you. We know we took for granted that you would always be here. We can't imagine what life is going to be like without your smile, your voice and your touch. We will always love you. Mom, Babe, Chic, Jared, JenEtte and Shanel.
