Gertrude "Trudy" Mae Davis Geering died Dec. 21, 2015 at home.
She was born in Burlington, Wyo., on May 18, 1931, the third child of Joseph Columbus and Lottie Mae Nicholson Davis. She was raised in a family with too many kids and not enough money, but the whole family worked hard together.
Trudy graduated from Burlington High in 1950 and moved to Basin, Wyo., where she worked at Security State Bank. It was there that she met Tom Geering, the handsome man with the fast car. They were married in Billings, in February, 1952. They lived in several different places throughout their marriage, and seven kids later they settled in Billings. When the kids were all in school, she went to work at Rips Shoes Store, where she started her fetish with shoes. After Rips closed, she got a job at Western Security Bank and worked there until her retirement. She then moved back home to Burlington, Wyo., to care for her mother.
After her mother's passing, Trudy moved back to Billings to be close to her children. Prankster, nomad, thrifty, selfless, graceful, wonderful cook, and of course, the color red, all the things that best describe Trudy. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed many years in the choir at St. Pats, costuming at the Billings Studio Theater, volunteering at Alberta Bair, card club and enjoying family dinners.
Trudy is survived by all her kids; Marie (Roy) Downer, David Geering, Teresa Pirtz (Greg LeTourneau), Kathy Spence, Jane Geering (Cole Cumin), Mark (Chris) Geering, Anne (Dwayne) Dukleth, along with 16 grandkids, 22 great grandkids, several of her siblings and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Smith's Funeral Chapel (925 South 27th Street) at 11 a.m., Dec. 28, with a reception to follow. Thank you to Rocky Mountain Hospice for their assistance. Memorials suggested to Billings Studio Theater.
