Hubert Abrams was born on the family farm on May 8, 1925, to Charles and Olive Abrams of Carlyle/Ollie, Mont. Dad graduated from Ollie High School. He later entered the United States Navy during World War II and served honorably. Hubert was a true gentleman and was well respected and loved by everyone whose life he touched. He made a difference in many people's lives and will be truly missed.
In November of 1947, Hubert married Viola (Hout). They remained on the family farm where they raised four children. His passions were the farm and his family.
Hubert represented the people of Eastern Montana as a Representative and Senator until he was forced to retire due to CLL. He served on various school, agriculture and bank boards.
Because of his health Hubert and Vi moved to Billings to retire but retirement wasn't meant for dad. He spent the next 15 years as a handyman/manager of apartments.
Hubert is survived by Viola, his loving wife of 62 years; two sons, Alan (Shannon) of Littleton, Colo., and Scott (Melody) of Wibaux; two daughters, Pat Emerson and Annette Efta of Billings; seven grandchildren, Jill Efta (Matt) Brietbach of Kaneohe, Hawaii, Aaron Efta of Chicago, Ill., Meghan Efta of Billings, Amanda and Angela Abrams of Dickinson, N.D., Lisa (Abrams) Morgan(John) of Glendive, and Alex Abrams of Atlanta, Ga.; three great-grandchildren, Morghan, Adyson and Zachary; four step-granddaughters, Megan, Erin, Brigid and Shae ; his sister in law Kathleen Abrams; his brother in law Roy Houser; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Olive; his brother, Harry; and his sister Elaine (Houser).
We would like to thank Drs. Hammond, Cobb and Sorenson and their staffs and the staff at St Vincent hospital for their amazing support for Dad as he fought the nearly 20 year battle against CLL and CHF. They were not only the utmost professionals but proved to be sincere friends over the course of his long battle.
