LAUREL - Janet Evelyn Sorg, 84, of Laurel, died June 13, 2015, at St. Vincent Hospital.
She was born on Nov. 29, 1930, in Medora, N.D., and was the daughter of Nels Nelson Ness and Evelyn Marie Nothnagel. She graduated from Laurel High School. She was a bookkeeper for L.P. Anderson and later with Mountain Bell in Laurel, she was also a devoted homemaker. She was a long-time Sunday school teacher and superintendent at the United Methodist Church.
Janet was married to William Edward Sorg (Deceased), on March 31, 1951. She is survived by her sister, Merilyn Scheidecker, Billings; her twin sister, Joyce (Ray) Fiechtner, Laurel; her sister, Ardiyth (Don) Brown, Corvalis, Oregon; her sister, Fern (Ted) Montgomery, Kinsey; her brother, Ivan (Mari Anne) Ness, Athol, Idaho; her sister Glenda Martin, Billings; her sister, Valley (Ed) Lowrance, Pagosa Spring, Colo.; and her three children, Sandra Schmit (Dave), Belgrade, Perry Sorg, Canfield, Ohio, and Keith Sorg, Laurel. She has three grandchildren, Julia Sorg, Emily Schmit, and Angie (Joey) Spoelstra.
Janet was preceded in death by her sister Grace (Sparky) Barthuly and her brother Terry (Monica) Ness.
A memorial service for Janet will be at 10 a.m., June 22 at the United Methodist Church in Laurel. A reception will follow the memorial service at the Fellowship Hall in the basement of the United Methodist Church and burial service will take place at 1 p.m. at the Laurel Cemetery.
