Jeromy Lynn Holds The Enemy, 38, of Billings, passed away June 22, 2015, in St. Vincent Healthcare.
He was born on Feb. 6, 1977, the eldest son of Ernest Holds The Enemy Jr. and Danetta Half-Holds. He was a member of the Bad War Deeds Clan and was a child of the Big Lodge. He received two Indian names. He was originally named iiluubaàpasiitchiik "Has Good Friends" by his great-grandpa Hugh Little Owl, who proceeded him in death. He was renamed iichiik baassee' "Front Runner," by his uncle Kenneth Plenty. He was a member of the Catholic and Native American Church. He loved singing and tying drum with his boys and his friends. He enjoyed going into Peyote meetings and was a self-taught singer.
Jeromy attended schools in Crow Agency, Lodge Grass and Hardin. He participated in basketball since he was in grade school. His team Run & Gun and Hardin Homeboys won many tournaments. He also participated in football and in wrestling. While at Lodge Grass High School, he received an award for the fastest pin. He was an active member in Indian club, even making a video for an exchange program. He received his high school equivalency at Little Big Horn College.
At age 19, he went on to pursue a career in trucking. For 12 years he had a dedicated route and trained new drivers. He loved his job and he took many family members and friends on his trips, encouraging them to pursue careers and see the world.
He married his high school sweetheart Rosella Windy Boy on Nov. 6, 1999. They made their home in Billings.
Jeromy made a career change and he went back to school and received his associates in human services at Little Big Horn College. He was active in many groups as a member and officer. He earned an internship at the Billings area Social Security Administration where he was later hired full time. He was very artistic and enjoyed painting, drawing, feather work and making bustles for his sons, nephews, cousins and other Crow Style Dancers. He enjoyed watching his sons dance and participate in powwows all over the north and southwest.
He had many friends from all over. He was always joking around and could put a smile on anyone's face. He always had a funny story or a kind word for everyone he came across. He was known for his good stories and especially his teasing.
Family members include his parents; wife Rosella; his sons Kayden Joel, Tanner Jay and his daughters Tillie and Kendra; his siblings Verleen, Ely, Michael, Holly and Shirley Holds The Enemy; his granddaughter Serena Rose; his adopted parents Ted and Becky Standing Bear; his best friends Chad Bad Bear, Cheyenne Bill Bixby and Charlie Rondeaux; and his numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Dan and Verlie Half and Ernest and Tessie Holds The Enemy, who he traveled and lived with as a youth.
Rosary will be recited 4 p.m., Thursday in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated 1 p.m., Friday in the Crow Agency St. Dennis Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Bullis Mortuary has been entrusted with the arrangements
