Joey Earl Kellogg

Joey E. Kellogg, 56, of Billings passed away Friday afternoon, Aug. 29, 2003 at St. Vincent Healthcare.
Joey was born on Nov. 24, 1946 in Billings, a son of Earl and Myrtle (Southworth) Kellogg. He was raised and educated in Billings and on Jan. 19, 1963 he married Laura Strong. To this union three daughters were born, Tammy, Cheryl and Kandy.
In 1967, Joey entered the Army. Following his discharge from service in 1971, he began work as a mechanic at Wilcox Volkswagen, continuing there until 1977 when he and Dennis Hust formed their partnership, Meridian Exxon. Joey would work there until his retirement in August of this year.
On May 7, 1982, Joey married Connie Dye. Along with his family, he enjoyed the outdoors. Fishing, hunting, camping and boating were favorite hobbies, along with indoor fun found bowling and putzing.
Survivors include his wife, Connie; three daughters, Tammy (Brad) Hardt, Cheryl (Brent) Cathey, and Kandy (Charles) Gilg; two stepdaughters, Chris Jappinen and Janene Lantz; a stepson, Scott Jappinen; his mother, Myrtle Balzer; grandchildren, Ryley, Lee and Kady Hardt, Cody and Clay Cathey, Matt, Christopher and Madison Gilg; step-grandchildren, Rachel and Jacob Jappinen; his sisters, Sharon (Vern) Gebhardt and Cathy Ferro; a brother, Leslie (Pat) Kellogg and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Kellogg; stepfather, Jake Balzer; and nephews, Joshua and Isaac Ferro.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3, at the Mayflower Congregational Church, corner of Poly Dr. and Rehberg Ln. Memorials are suggested to the Rockie Mountain Cancer Center, 1041 N. 29th Street; Billings, MT 59101 or a local charity of choice. Smith West Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
