WOLF POINT ó Kenneth John Azure, Jr., age 34, passed away Dec. 31, 2004, in Wolf Point. He was born May 20, 1970, to Sandy and Kenny Azure.
He graduated from Wolf Point High School in 1988 and then went on to college at the University of Wisconsin-Superior on a baseball scholarship. He later attended United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck, N.D., and there received a degree in carpentry. He then returned to Wolf Point, where he spent the remainder of his life.
Kenny was well known for his love of sports. He was recognized statewide as he received All-State honors in basketball. He was a member of the 1987 American Legion State Championship baseball team. The Yellow Jackets went on to take third place at the regional tournament in Idaho that year. Kenny loved the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish. He was well known for his skills in carpentry and prided himself in the patio decks he would build.
He was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Michael Laudato; his grandparents, Ben and Margie Azure; and grandmother Frances Hitchcock. He is survived by his parents, Ken and Sandy Azure of Wolf Point; two sisters, Azurene and Mandy Azure of Phoenix; a brother, Matthew Azure and fiancÈe Rainy Gourneau of Poplar; his children, Brooklyn of Billings, Michael of Ft. Yates, N.D., Christopher and Michael of Brockton, Chiefy and Avery of Poplar, and McKenzie of Wolf Point; one nephew, Kelby Azure of Phoenix; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 5, from 1 to 8 p.m., at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 6, at 1 p.m. at Blue Sky Ministries in Wolf Point. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
