Ranae Hartman Obituary

DICKINSON, N.D. - Ranae Hartman, 51, Dickinson, died Friday, March 18, 2005, in Billings.
Ranae's funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dickinson, with Rev. Steven Tangen officiating. Visitation will be from 8 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
Ranae Schlecht was born Nov. 13, 1953, in Billings, the daughter of John and Joyce (Schnaidt) Schlecht. She graduated from Billings Senior High and attended Rocky Mountain College. In June of 1974, she married Chris Hartman, and several years later they moved to Dickinson. Ranae and Chris and their two boys, Ryan and Tyler, enjoyed a busy life in Dickinson, involving themselves in church, school, sports, careers and the community.
Ranae's gift to life was the gift of giving. She always had time to send a card, make a phone call or stop by to visit. Her many friends were blessed with her caring and generosity, but it was Ranae who felt she was the one who was blessed with so many good friends and family. Ranae's passions were her family and her church. Her boys were the center of her life, and she was proud of the young men her "boys" have become.
Ranae was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was past president of the church council, a member of WELCA and Circle 6, altar guild and Sunday school teacher. She was past president of the local chapter of Business and Professional Women. Ranae was active in music boosters while her boys were involved in the music programs at Hagen Junior High and Dickinson High School.
Ranae is survived by her husband, Chris; their two sons, Ryan, Eden Prairie, Minn., and Tyler, Dickinson; parents, John and Joyce Schlecht, Billings; one sister, Cindy (Chris) Reiquam, Great Falls, Mont.; her mother and father-in-law, Ralph and Marcella Hartman, Manning; sisters-in-law, Bonny (Bob) Brew, Killdeer, Sharon (Marc) Schulz, Riverdale, and Nancy Taton, Bismarck; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials are preferred to Badlands Ministries, PO Box 305, Medora, ND 58645.
Arrangements are with Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.

I did not know Renae very well personally, but was around her and Chris at family reunions usually held in Billings! Chris is my second cousin, and when we were young was my BEST friend! My condolences at losing a fine young woman like her! My wife has been sick for over 3 years, and wouldn't know what I would do if I lost her! I am SO SORRY for Chris and the Boysfor losing their wife and mother!

To Ranae Hartman family: I remember standing with Ranae in the registration line as freshman at Rocky Mountain College. We went on to become SPURS together our sophomore year... What fond memories of Ranae.

A message to Joyce, her mother, many memories of Ranae through you, from when we worked together at Hart-Albin's...

In Christian Love,
