Richard Cotter Obituary

God received another angel this past weekend. Richard L. Cotter, 73, of Billings, passed away Saturday evening, Nov. 15, 2014, while at his home.

Richard and his late wife Betty moved to the Billings area in 1993 from Sidney to be closer to their daughters, grandkids and brothers. Richard held a few jobs, but his true life work came when he started his own water-hauling business, which he ran loyally to his many customers for multiple years.

Even though Richard was not the biggest guy in stature, his heart, outlook and energy for life, family and friends were gigantic. Richard had such a charming and polarizing personality that he could talk with friends, family and strangers for hours, most of whom started as a stranger and ended as a lifelong friend. Many will recall speaking with him and having him respond with his usual "Huh!" when he didn't hear you, which added to his charm and enjoyability.

Richard was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending much time outdoors when he wasn't caring for his animals in the pasture, especially his favorite "awnry" little Bantam Rooster.

Richard was a devoted husband to his wife, Betty; a wonderful father to his two daughters, Donna (Mark) Black and Irene (Jeff) Anderson; a fantastic grandfather to his three grandkids, Rich (Holli) Klein, Dyllan Anderson and Cassandra (Michael) Wren. A great brother to Phil (Debbie) Cotter, Jim (Elveria) Cotter, Ernie (Joann) Cotter, Bill (Lillian) Cotter, Genevieve (Art) Webber and Marilyn Cotter; and an amazing uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Richard will be greatly missed by many, but never forgotten.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary in Billings. Condolences may be made online at www.michelottisawyers.com.
