Timothy Brooks Obituary

Timothy L. Brooks passed away Dec. 2, 2006, after losing his bravely fought battle with lung cancer. His faith and courage never wavered. Tim was 61 years old, born on May 30, 1945, the youngest of Jack and Bertha Brooks. The family moved from Billings to Custer in 1953 and returned to Billings in 1958. Tim attended school at Fratt Memorial, Custer and Billings Central, graduating in 1963.
On Nov. 14, 1964, Tim married his best friend and the love of his life, Linda Legard, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lavina. Tim and Linda shared 42 wonderful years of marriage. They were blessed with three beautiful daughters: Heidi Rae, Heather Rene, and Holly Rebecca.
Tim loved spending time with his seven grandchildren: Katie and Colton Kloppel, William and Isabel Alles, Jacob Timothy, Jonah and Jordyn Saunders. Tim was always bragging about their latest accomplishment or laughing about their many escapades and tales. He and Linda spent a large part of their free time attending their activities and sporting events; sleepovers at Grandma and Grampa's were frequent and treasured events. The grandkids often joined them on special trips that continue to bring Linda fond memories.
Tim was working as an outside sales person for Roscoe Steel and Culvert at the time of his illness. Tim enjoyed his customers and his co-workers. He was proud to be a part of the Roscoe Steel team.
Tim enjoyed golfing, dancing the jitterbug, trips to Las Vegas and people. As he approached his 60th birthday, Tim decided to commemorate the occasion by running a marathon. Tim and Linda trained together and in October 2005 they ran the 26.2 mile course in St. George, Utah. Tim was thrilled beyond belief when he crossed the finish line with arms outstretched and a wide smile on his face.
Tim was kind, gentle and supportive; always ready with a word of encouragement for all. Tim blessed many with his gift of laughter, he could make you laugh until your sides hurt.
Tim is survived and deeply missed by his wife, Linda; his daughters, Heidi (Lonn) Saunders, Heather Brooks, and Holly (Stan) Alles; his grandchildren; his mother, Bertha; his brother, Mike (Kathy); his sisters, Chris (George) Schafer, Connie (John) Schafer, Cindy Konecny and Carol (Kirk) Wetzel; his mother-in-law, Meldora Legard; his bothers-in-law, Tom (Ginger) and Jerry (Margaret) Legard; his nieces and nephews, aunt, cousins and friends. Tim was preceded into heaven by his infant daughter, Marlo Pauline; his father, Jack Marlowe; his brother, James Marlowe; his father-in-law, Almond; and brother-in-law, John Legard.
Services will be held at St. Bernard's Church where Tim was a member. A Vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening, Dec. 5. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6. St. Bernard's Parish is located at 226 Wicks Lane. The Rite of Committal will take place a t Holy Cross Cemetery.
Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held from 12 noon to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 5, at Michelotti-Sawyers.
Memorials may be made to St. Bernard's Haitian Children's Fund, the Special K Ranch, or the charity of one's choice.
The family would like to thank the oncology staff at the Hematology-Oncology Centers Of The Northern Rockies, Tim's doctors at Internal Medicine Associates and the staff at St. Vincent Healthcare for their care and kindness during Tim's illness.

I worked with Tim and cannot put into words how much he was an inspiration. He always was excited and never once did I hear him complain about doing anything I asked him to do for me. I will miss him more than I can imagine.

Dear Linda, Heidi, Heather, Holly and extended family:

I was so sorry to hear the news about Tim's passing. I will always remember his smile and the first-name hello I'd get when I'd run into him. Even years apart. In high school I remember thinking how cool it was to have a conversational relationship beyond the "Yes, sir" type you might otherwise have with your friend's dad. What a great guy, and huge loss.

You are all in my thoughts and prayers, especially this holiday season. Take care and hope to see some of you at the 20-year reunion (*gasp*) this summer.

Mrs. Brooks and family ... as a fellow Central High classmate to Tim, it is quite alarming to hear of his passing, as he certainly retained his youthful characteristics quite well. Be assured that all of Tim's prior classmates are most sympathetic towards your family.

Dear Linda and Family,
I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Tim through Roscoe Steel. He escorted me back to my motel at one of our sales seminars last year and we were able to spend some time in Dallas at a seminar in January. In just that amount of time I knew he was a giver, humble and willing to share his insight. All of us at Roscoe Steel will truly miss him. God Bless you and your family and may your hearts remember his love.

The last time I saw Tim he was at work, I asked him "so how are the girl?" Tim smiled and from there he did need to say anything at all. You knew how proud he was of his wife, girls and grandchildren. God bless all of you during this difficult time. Do know that Tim continues smiling down on all of you and that he is taken care of in a beautiful place. God Bless and my prayers are going out to you for you to find peace.

One of the true gentlemen from our Class, Tim will be missed by all.

It doesn’t seem that long ago that I remember when he broke his wrist in a Billings Central football game and it had quite an impact on his bronc riding. I seem to remember him telling me that he had to switch hands for the rigging and it made it tougher to make the 10 seconds.

He was quite the champion both on and off a horse.

Our deepest regrets, Linda, at your loss.
