Trudy Kent Obituary

MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho ? Trudy C. Kent, 58, of Mountain Home, formerly of the Boulder (Mont.) area, died May 6, 2005, at home with her family at her side.

Services were held Wednesday, May 11, at Glenns Ferry High School.

Trudy was born Dec. 29, 1946, to Irene and Lawrence Taylor in Yakima, Wash. Shortly thereafter they moved to Billings, where Trudy was raised with her two brothers, Larry and Garry.

In 1968 she married David May. Although their marriage was somewhat short-lived, they share a daughter, Melanie.

As a single mother, Trudy worked full time and received a bachelor of science in Education from Eastern Montana College (now MSU-Billings). She taught English, Spanish, literature, drama, creative writing and coordinated many extracurricular activities in Winifred, Mont., and Chugwater, Wyo.

Due to the increasing demand of students requesting personal support, Trudy was motivated to return to EMC in 1993, where she received her master's in counseling. She earned the prestigious acknowledgement of "Who's Who in American Colleges" with her high grades and on-campus involvement.

She counseled and changed the lives of many students in Boulder and most recently in Glenns Ferry.

In 1996 she met and married her true love, Tim Kent, of Mountain Home. They enjoyed nine years together, traveling all over Montana and Idaho, making lifelong friends along the way.

In September 2000, Trudy was diagnosed with breast cancer. After a five-year battle, the disease took its toll and her life. It did not succeed in taking her trademark sense of humor or her authoritative straight-forward manner, which all who knew her grew to love. Trudy will be missed by all whose lives she touched.

She is survived by her husband, Tim; a daughter, Melanie and her husband, Ryan of Denver; two grandsons and a brother, Garry and his wife, Bev of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, older brother, Larry and younger brother, Arthur, who died at age 4.

The family asks that donations be made in Trudy's name to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation at www.susangkomen.org, or mail donations to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 1835 Franklin Street, Denver, CO 80218.
